Protecting the Right to Read in Michigan.

MI Right to Read is a grassroots coalition of concerned Michigan residents organized by the Michigan Library Association.

The coalition opposes any attempts to ban books from Michigan libraries based on content subjectively deemed inappropriate. Its purpose is to educate the public and propose/support legislation that protects First Amendment rights and intellectual freedom.

PLEDGE YOUR SUPPORT - WE ARE STRONGER TOGETHER.

I will not be silent.

I will protect the right to read for all Michiganders.

I will defend books and writers.

I will support diverse literature.

I will safeguard the freedom to express my opinion and to access the opinions, ideas and stories of others.

I will push back and use my voice against the extremist rhetoric of intolerance, exclusion and censorship.
